Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. After moving to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. From the age of six Emma knew that she wanted to be an actress and for a number of years she trained at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied singing dancing and acting. As part of a school production and the stage of a Stagecoach production, Emma was the lead at the age 10, and acted. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was spotted by Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's debut film appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001, the film set records for its opening day revenue as well as its opening weekend earnings. The film received praise from critics, as were the performances of its three new starlets. The well-known British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her exceptional performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
