Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actor, known for her performances in the films Beta Saajan as well as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! In the 80s the actress began her acting career. She became popular with the role of Tezaab in which she appeared alongside veteran actor Anil Kapooor. Her next appearance on the screen was in Dil with Aamir. When she was a kid her Mumbai-born dancer started studying at a very early age. When she was still in high school, she tried her hand at acting, but most of those early films were unsuccessful. Eventually she became one the top actresses from Indian films. The actress took a hiatus from her career after her wedding before returning to the world of entertainment. More recently she played an integral part in the movie Gulaab Gang which was about the struggle of women living in India. Dixit is nominated to win 15 Filmfare Awards, out of which she won eight. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit. It is the fourth-highest civil honour in India. Her name is well-known for her social works as well.
